The creation of the book reflects the process of oral history research, in which a conference of a similar name brought a new milestone. In 2003, researchers of oral history from 14 countries met in the hall of the University of Latvia in Riga. The conference opened an international context for the national oral history study and launched a dialogue, the continuation of which is a collection of articles. The book is addressed to researchers, students, all interested people who study oral history in theory and practice. The Editorial Board considers it important not only to accustom the terms used internationally to the Latvian language, but also to promote the development of theoretical discourse and to include scientific argumentation in the logic of the Latvian language. The book features 36 authors from 12 countries and 22 articles dedicated to the role of oral history in the perspective of Latvia and Latvians.
