Mirror: Oral History in Latvia (LV)

Abstract

By this collection of articles, we want to introduce the reader with the world of life stories from several perspectives. We want to show how life stories expand the space of experience, change the view of life, the surroundings, everything that happens to people today. Life stories told in different places and at different times reveal coincidences that make one re-evaluate previous notions, illuminate what is left in the shadows. The relationship between the facts and memory is mediated. Life stories have their own logic, which involves and subordinates itself to a coefficient of reliability, which is based on the human heart. Life stories are as true as the attitudes that evoke them, encouraging people to tell about their lives. The rest is listening and understanding.
