Graduated from the University of Latvia, developing a master’s thesis «Social Aspects of the Urban Environment» in the Department of Sociology. Since 2000 has been working at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology, University of Latvia. From 2002 to 2006 participated in the Nordic-Baltic research group «Industrial Heritage Platform». Participated in the projects: «Collective and individual identity in life stories», «Ethnic and narrative diversity in life story constructions in Latvia», etc. Research interests include the formation of identity and the peculiarities of biographical narratives, the collective memory of different groups and the national memory policy. Is working on the doctoral thesis «Communities of Memory in Latvia: Discourse of National History and Biographical Memory».
